Another year is in sight. This is a time to reflect on pieces that moved me. This year celebrated my return to the salles obscures, aka cinemas.

Comfortable seats, very loudspeakers, a pitch-dark room and salty popcorn, I’d lie if I were saying I hadn’t missed it. But aside from cinemas, worthy artworks were also to be found on streaming platforms, with aside from movies, a handful of quality documentaries and series.

You’ll find below my Top watched in 2021. A good mix of originals from 2021 and before. You won’t believe N°3! Just kidding, no clickbait, no spoiler.

Hand of God — Paolo Sorrentino (Netflix)

A coming of age story, where Fabio goes through joy, discoveries and hardship in his journey to become a film director. It takes place in Napoli (Italy) at a time when the city is roaring and dreaming of the arrival of their messiah, Diego Maradona. But football is only a pretext to dive into the story of Fabio and the city of Napoli. Film director Sorrentino cared for every single shot, which leaves us with a touching and aesthetic outcome.
